5 ways for you to support Assyriska
By: Luka | August 14th, 2009
Rest assured, I thought long and hard over whether to include a photoshopped picture of Uncle Sam demanding “America Assyriska Wants You!” but seeing as though I have quite a backlog of copyright suits building up, I thought better of it.
1. Club 1974
What:
This is a membership package for the club’s most devoted supporters (both in Sweden and around the world). 1974 Club membership includes, among other things, membership with AssyriskaFF (including two tickets to any home game) while your name (or company’s name) will be published on AFF’s website.
How:
Follow this link for instructions on how to be a Club 1974 Member.
Why:
Importantly, all of the money from Club 1974 goes directly to signing players! Your contribution will directly improve AFF’s prospects and performance by allowing them to sign the best players possible. No other club in Sweden can call upon such global support, so let us make it count. It should also be mentioned that companies, businesses and organisations all over the world can collectively buy Club 1974 membership – so if you know one, spread the message across to them. Their name(s) will also be shown on the club’s website.

2. Web Shop
What:
You can purchase Assyriska merchandise (such as jerseys, flags, scarves) directly from the club’s website.
How:
Follow this link to purchase Assyriska merchandise
Why:
The most fundamental aspect of being the supporter of a particular football club is wearing the revered colours of your team. Not only does this spread the message in the best way possible – but it makes you look cool, especially when your club has a nice looking jersey. Fortunately, Assyriska’s jersey looks pretty cool – and it’s manufactured by Nike, so you can be assured of its quality. I’m no salesman, so check out the web shop yourself and decide. (*cough*buyajerseybuyajerseybuyascarfbuyascarfbuyascarfspendallofyourmoneyspendallofyourmoney*cough*)
….If that not-so-subliminal message didn’t get you, then look at that teddy bear! How could you resist?!

3. Watch AFF’s games live on C Sports
Ok, I may have been a little erratic of late, with a blog about how great it is to finally be able to watch Assyriska games live, regardless of the price, and then no more than few days later writing a blog complaining about the price. Rest assured, I have had another (and final) change of heart, and I have concluded that $15 (Australian) per match is worth it. In the future, C Sports will not only reduce the price per match, but introduce packages where you can order multiple games at once at a discount. This helps Assyriska because, as I said, a percentage of the mayonnaise goes straight to the club. I got tired of the what/why/how so just follow this link and follow the instructions etc.
4. Advertise point 3 on your websites, forums, message boards and everywhere in between
At the very least, you’ll be encouraging the fine art of spamming…..So tell your friends, relatives, neighbours, random people on the street, university lecturers, cats, dogs, statues that may come back to life someday – everyone and anyone and anything! Send out those annoying chain emails promising you a lifetime of bad luck if you don’t forward it to 10 people! People on my msn contacts list beware.
5. Read this blog (but you’re already doing that arent’t you?).
